MyUnique Thrift is my number one favorite thrift store in New York City. The Bronx-based store isn’t very popular and well-known, but the store has extremely good clothing pieces. MyUnique is a very large, one floor array of anything thrifted you could want. MyUnique is mostly clothes with the sides of the store having accessories, bedding/linens, a section with toys and random items. MyUnique is usually pretty crowded, and usually there are a lot of young children there with their families so if you’re going alone I recommend bringing headphones because it can be very loud. The Men’s section is much smaller than the womens clothing section, with a smaller section in the back for young children. Everything is labeled very clearly with sizing and MyUnique has daily discounts, with colors on the tags that indicate how much of a discount each piece is. MyUnique has a very wide array of types of clothing, from streetwear to business wear, pajamas to polo shirts, and jeans to sweatpants. MyUnique isn’t a typical thrift store that has mostly vintage streetwear clothing.s
MyUnique is a thrift store that is mostly intended for people and families that cannot afford brand new things, however if you are a thrifter specifically for clothes, MyUnique does have some of the best items out of all the thrift stores I have been to. MyUnique isn’t known for specific name brands, they have everyday clothing that you see people wearing walking down the street, but they also have more extravagant pieces and specialty items. There is no register desk in MyUnique, they have two rows of self checkouts in the front where workers help you with your items (It can get a little hectic and crowded when checking out because there are a lot of people there). There are workers walking around the store constantly refilling the clothing with new items and if you ever have a question they are always there to help. The only negative about MyUnique is that they don’t have in use fitting rooms.
There are around 4 in the back but I have never seen them open and available to use so I am never 100 percent sure something will fit how I want it to. However you are allowed to try on anything that doesn’t require you to take your clothes off, a jacket, hoodie, hat, or even a shirt over the one you are wearing. I don’t know the location MyUnique is in very well, it has a couple of food restaurants near it, but most of the time when I go to MyUnique, I go only for thrifting and then go back home instead of walking around the area. MyUniques prices are standard, some of the more special items are on the more expensive side but overall prices with the daily discounts are very standard. I would highly recommend you visit MyUnique because it is very different from other thrift stores but I can easily say it is my favorite thrift store.
